Kate came into Random looking for a way to hang her paintings (on flat panels).
Douglas added 3/4" by 1 1/2" deep poplar wood to the panels.
We loved Kate's work and asked her if she would display a few pieces in the window.
For Two weeks (over July 4th) we displayed her US Flag painting.
Then changed the paintings to show her "recent abstracts". I asked Kate to describe her work;
"I am always curious about process. In my paintings and my writing, I appreciate the possibility of surprise. Inspired by my friend, painter Harry Moody, I use various straight edged objects, some soft, some firm to "pull" the paint over the obstacles I attach to plywood or canvas. Often a story emerges from the paint that enhances a narrative I'm working on, or becomes a story unto itself."
